Meet CE Requirements

The following sessions offered at PNDC 2021 satisfy Washington state continuing education requirements.


Suicide Prevention

Licensed Washington dentists and hygienists must complete a one-time training for suicide assessment, treatment, and management. This three-hour training must be completed by the end of the full continuing education reporting period ending on the licensee’s annual license renewal date in 2022.

Minimal & Moderate Sedation

Licensed Washington dentists who administer minimal and/or moderate sedation must complete seven hours of CE every five years.*

Lectures Meeting Requirement: "Hurts So...Swell!" Management of Acute Dental Pain & Appropriate Opioid Prescribing Parts 1 & 2 and "I Wanna Be Sedated!": Essential Pharmacology of Agents for Minimal Sedation & Nitrous Oxide Analgesia Parts 1 & 2

* Please note: Moderate sedation with parenteral agents permitholders are subject to more intensive requirements.

Opioid Prescribing

Licensed Washington dentists who prescribe opioids must complete a one-time CE requirement regarding best practices in the prescribing of opioids and DQAC’s opioid prescribing rules. This three-hour training must be completed by the end of the full continuing education reporting period ending on the licensee’s annual license renewal date in 2022.

Infection Control

As of January 23, 2021, Washington dentists, hygienists, EFDA/dental assistants and dental anesthesia assistants are required to complete one hour of current infection prevention standards education annually.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Dental staff providing direct patient care in an in-office or outpatient setting must hold a current and valid healthcare provider basic life support (BLS) certification. Certification is good for two years.
