Reminder: Paid Family & Medical Leave Reporting and Employee Benefits

Paid Family & Medical Leave Program reporting for Quarter 4 is due by Jan. 31. Additionally, beginning Jan. 1, employers will need to offer paid family and medical leave through either the state plan or a voluntary plan.
As a reminder, Paid Family & Medical Leave Program reporting for Quarter 4 is due by January 31. The Paid Family & Medical Leave reporting system is now live on Secure Access Washington (SAW)

More information about the reporting process can be found through the Employment Security Department’s (ESD) Employer Toolkit.  

Additionally, beginning January 1, employers will need to offer paid family and medical leave through either the state plan or a voluntary plan. While employees cannot begin to utilize benefits until January, employers have already started to remit employee premiums. 

Employer Toolkit

The Employment Security Department (ESD) has updated its Paid Family and Medical Leave Program Employer Toolkit. The toolkit is intended to help employers prepare for Paid Family & Medical Leave and help inform employees on what to expect from the program. The latest version includes an update on the information an employer will receive when an employee uses benefits and additional information regarding the continuation of an employee’s healthcare benefits. 

Paid Family & Medical Leave Rulemaking

Finally, ESD has concluded rulemaking efforts related to recodification, the employee waiting period and reportable wages for premium assessment purposes. You can read the final proposed rules as well as the ESD’s responses to all comments received during this rulemaking process.
